Ports, 2016
Performance on MS Stubnitz, Premiere 9. November 2017.
Travelogues from journeys exploring the possibility of a different port: As Hamburg Port Hydrarchy (HPH), secret agency set out to conceptualize and initiate port development beyond container trade and cruise ship romanticism. Access to the sea is monopolized and taken away from the citizens in many port cities across the Western world. HPH explores alternative practices of using the port around the world: engaging in refugee-organised seatrade between Hamburg and Lagos, reporting from the civil resistance against the cruise ship industry in Venice, participating in the Battle of Mau Mau Island, a yearly regatta of the radical seafarers of New York City, and visiting ghost ships in the South China Sea.
