Call and Response, 2015
In his Essay upon Projects from 1697, Daniel Defoe proclaims the Projecting Age: The future suddenly seems open and shapeable, everyone engages in projects so big that they have to be expected to fail, and in the stock exchanges and coffee houses bets are made about the results of these projects. The project itself is a bet.
Together with brut Wien and Kunsthalle Exnergasse, secret agency realized the two-part project Call & Response, which started as a lecture performance and installation in the exhibition „A Proposal to Call“ at Kunsthalle Exnergasse on day one and ended as a betting shop performance in the bar of brut on day 2. At the end of day 1, the audience was challenged to bets that had to be decided in the following 24 hours. The following evening, results were declared, winnings were payed out and drinks constantly re-filled.
